Tampa’s Best Dog Trainer

Welcome to Good Behavior Dog Training

Building Better Relationships Between Dogs and Their Humans Since 1979

Hello and welcome.

My name is Robin LeBlanc, founder of Good Behavior Dog Training, and for over 47 years I have dedicated my life to understanding dogs, helping families overcome behavior challenges, and teaching owners how to build lasting relationships with their canine companions.

If you’ve found your way here, chances are you’re looking for answers.

Perhaps your dog is pulling on leash, reacting to other dogs, ignoring commands, struggling with confidence, jumping on guests, or simply making everyday life more challenging than it needs to be.

The good news is that meaningful change is possible.

At Good Behavior Dog Training, I believe every dog has the ability to learn, improve, and become a well-mannered family member when given clear communication, fair guidance, and consistent leadership.

How It All Began

My passion for dogs began at an early age.

Growing up surrounded by multiple German Shepherds and other breeds, I quickly learned that life with dogs is infinitely more enjoyable when there is mutual understanding, structure, and respect.

Those early experiences sparked a lifelong fascination with canine behavior that has evolved into nearly five decades of hands-on experience training dogs of all breeds, ages, temperaments, and backgrounds.

Over the years, I’ve worked with everything from energetic puppies taking their first steps toward good manners to senior dogs overcoming behaviors that owners believed could never change.

One lesson has remained constant:

Dogs learn best when their owners learn alongside them.

That philosophy remains the foundation of Good Behavior Dog Training today.

My Training Philosophy

The world of dog training is full of opinions.

My approach focuses on balance, clarity, communication, and understanding the individual dog in front of me.

I do not believe in one-size-fits-all training.

Every dog is unique.

Every family is unique.

Every situation deserves an individualized approach.

At Good Behavior Dog Training, training programs are built around:

✅ Clear Communication

✅ Fair and Consistent Leadership

✅ Positive Reinforcement

✅ Mental Enrichment

✅ Appropriate Structure and Boundaries

✅ Real-World Practical Skills

✅ Building Trust and Confidence

The goal is never simply obedience.

The goal is creating a dog that can successfully navigate everyday life while strengthening the relationship between dog and owner.

Training the Human End of the Leash

One of the biggest misconceptions about dog training is that we train dogs.

In reality, we train people and dogs together.

Many unwanted behaviors are not the result of a “bad dog.”

They are often the result of confusion, inconsistent communication, unmet needs, or simply not understanding how dogs learn.

At Good Behavior Dog Training, I help owners understand what their dogs are communicating, why certain behaviors occur, and how to create lasting change through practical daily interactions.

When owners gain confidence, dogs often do too.

Real-World Training for Real Life

Training should not exist only in a classroom or training facility.

Dogs need to succeed where life actually happens.

That means helping dogs become successful:

  • At home
  • Around visitors
  • On neighborhood walks
  • In public settings
  • Around distractions
  • During everyday routines
  • At pet-friendly businesses
  • In new environments

Whether we’re working on puppy training, leash manners, reactivity, confidence building, or behavior modification, the goal is always the same:

Helping dogs become welcome companions wherever they go.

Mental Exercise Matters

One of the lessons I’ve learned throughout my career is that physical exercise alone is rarely enough.

A dog’s mind needs exercise too.

Mental enrichment, problem-solving activities, training exercises, confidence-building games, and purposeful engagement are essential components of a well-balanced dog.

As I often tell my clients:

A tired dog equals a happy pet parent, but a mentally enriched dog equals a peaceful home.

This simple philosophy has helped countless owners better understand the connection between behavior, fulfillment, and overall quality of life.
